Friday, March 1: Sous Vide for Beginners

When: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Once limited to chefs in professional kitchens, sous vide (pronounced “sue veed”) – translated from French as “under vacuum” – is now popular with home cooks. In this class led by Chef Christopher Litts, participants will learn how to apply this technique to bring out the best flavors in vegetables, fish, chicken and dessert.

Guest Chef Joe Yurksaitis’ love of Italian cuisine runs deep. He especially enjoys preparing classic Italian recipes when cooking for himself at home and in his professional kitchens. In this hands-on class, Chef Yurksaitis will prepare a three-course Italian meal to be enjoyed as a group at the end of the class. Buon appetito!

Friday, April 12: Italian Desserts

Travel to Tuscany with Guest Instructor John Tanner while baking Ricotta cookies with lemon glaze, Tuscan Biscotti two ways: pistachio and white chocolate, and Ciambella Marmorizzata cake. BONUS: John will bring a Ricotta cheesecake to share and review the recipe with participants.

Saturday, May 11: Flavors of Piemonte, Italy

Join Guest Instructor Kim Robinson in preparing a four-course meal highlighting the ingredients of the Piemonte Region of Italy including truffles, anchovies, hazelnuts and the Nebbiolo grape. This area of northwestern Italy shares a border with both France and Switzerland and brings together a wonderful mix of culinary cultures.

Friday, June 7: Tweens CAN Cook! (Ages 8-12)

When: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Guest Instructor Carrie Hirsch will lead this fun class for ages 8-12. Tweens will learn how to make delicious after-school snacks, a hearty soup with pesto (helps with peeling, slicing and dicing skills) and a special dessert. The tweens will sit down together at 1 p.m. to taste recipes. One parent/guardian is invited to join each child for the tasting!
