You don’t want to work in an office or wear a tie. You want to be on the move, indoors and out, up high and on the down low. That’s why becoming a Building Construction Technician is a great fit for you. It’s time to build a better life.

This hands-on program teaches you the fundamental skills you’ll need to enter the new and renovating construction industry. And, here in the growing Lowcountry, construction jobs are always in demand. The S.C. annual mean wage for construction occupations is $44,460, according to 2021 reports from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Program

Study will include hands-on operation of hand and power tools, printreading, materials used in residential construction, tool usage and safety instruction, and foundations and framing techniques used in residential construction with emphasis placed on “green” building techniques.

This 21-credit-hour certificate program can be completed in as little as two semesters, or you can take a course when it fits into your already busy schedule.

    Technical College of the Lowcountry is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.     PROGRAM COST


    Tuition: 21 credits x $214 per credit = $4,494.
